We have received several emails from anxious photographers who wanted to know the exact date when this program will be launched so they can upload at that time and earn $0.2 per upload + the highest comission percentage. We love them :)

We have no exact date at this stage. There's a lot of work to be done, the estimated date is after March 15.

The ones that are interested should not wait until then. This feature can be applied to images already online. At that time, you can set your entire portfolio (it must be exclusive though) and earn the upload fee just as if you would've upload them after this program is in place.

So in order to take advantage of the fast approval time that we have nowadays as well as the large number of accepted images, make sure you upload LOTS of (GOOD) images! Remember we have one year to reach that million! :))

I have an idea with regard to exclusivity. I was wondering if there would be a possibility to allow exclusive photographers to purchase/lease through Archiweb a web site at a discounted rate, where not only will their stock photos be featured, but a photographer could also have a private area where he could refer clients to view and purchase photos and designs through a private viewing area. Dreamstime would be the clearing house for the financial transaction and the site would be completely seperate and independent from the main DT website.

Here's the idea. Say I sell stock exclusively through DT and I acquire an assignment (say someone asks me to shoot a wedding). I direct that person to the site. Initially, that person could review my portfolio as a reference, and later, the person can either have the opportunity to browse my portfolio at DT, or log in with a user defined login and password. I put that person's wedding pictures in the private area and that person can download or complete the financial transaction through DT. As a photographer or artist, I could also use the area to sell pics that aren't necessarily stock (i.e. fine art or editorial work). Naturally all editorial work would need liability releases and appropriate documentation.

Another seperate consideration would be electronically signed model releases. As a photogropher working in a time for pictures manner, I would be able to ask the model for an electronic release for photos the model would be able to download as consideration for time spent on a shoot thus giving an easier model release solution for stock related images.

What do you think?

Hi, Achilles!

How can you set the portofolio to be exclusive? I haven't seen anything nor in my management area nor in my portfolio. Or there is a condition for exclusivity such as a minimum number of uploads etc.?

I mean: setting exclusivity for the pictures.

This feature will be integrated in the system after March 15. Is still in work, so we don't have a specific date.

Eendicott your suggestion is very interesting, we will try to analyze it as soon as time allows.

Please help, I need clarity on this subject.

To commit as an EXCLUSIVE PHOTOGRAPHER here at DT - do you mean one submits his or her works only for DT?

Or what is meant here is

one only delivers an EXCLUSIVE PORTFOLIO or IMAGES.

In this case, photographer has also the freedom to submit his/her (rejected) images to other agencies.

I might have misread or misunderstood earlier threads concerning this matter.

Would appreciate much your answer...

Antonia, from Tano's post and the earlier post by Achilles, the program is still in development. Here's what Achilles posted in the new site launch thread...

"Because our community already involves photographers that work exclusively with us, there is a need to reward them. We also want to establish a unique niche of talented photographers.
A photographer can choose to become exclusively represented by Dreamstime® and receive 60% from all sales he makes. We will also reward the submissions of exclusive photographers with $0.20 per accepted upload. This means that you can make $100 only by uploading 500 high quality images. With the current amount limit in place, it will mean only 5 days of upload.
We didn't forget photographers that cannot be exclusive at this time. If you upload exclusive images, you will not be rewarded per upload but will still receive a 60% commission fee."

There will be a choice - a photographer can choose to become exclusive (in which case s/he would not be able to submit to other places - even in the case of submission returns) or a photographer can choose to upload exclusive images that are not sold at other agencies. The difference appears to be the upload premium.

That's a good question, Antonia. It brings up another fine point I was wondering about: Does DT want absolute exclusivity or can we market the same photos on our own? That is, do we retain rights to sell our photos one-on-one, that is, either as prints to local customers or to publishers we find and develop relationships with on our own?

I guess the bottom line question is just what rights does DT want us to assign with the exclusives? I am willing to go exclusive with DT. I appreciate all they've done for me and are continuing to do.

In that case you will be exclusively represented by us as an agency. Photographer-to-client deals will not have exclusivity applied, you will be able to market your images to your local network.

Do I understand this to mean that we can have our images on our own website, use them in any design work we undertake ourselves and they will still be exclusive to dreamstime as long as we don't join any other stock agency? Sorry but I'm still not entirely clear on this one - I must be a bit slow on the uptake!!

I'm also curious - this is why I presented the idea of incorporating Archiweb - if my personal site is incorporated in some way with DT - then I'm still represented by one agency.

The difference is, I can drop business cards to clients referring them to a site with my name, promote my own portfolio and work, and still lead people through an indirect manner to the DT site, directing traffic here, and allowing those who buy (or even want to contribute) stock images to join the community (through a referral link).

I see it as win/win.

I agree, Ed, it's a win-win. My previous concern was what I'd do if my Mom wanted to buy an image and Achilles cleared that up.

Now let's agitate for eendicot.archiweb.com. ;-)

Having a partner-host may be the only way I'd ever get a site posted.

It would be great to have the option to set the exclusivity for pictures (and get a better pay) without becoming an exclusive photographer.

I believe it would be benefitial for both the photographers and for DT.

No, he said only not to wait uploading files until that date. You can continue uploading even the images will be exclusive. If you'll decide to have exclusive images on DT, and those images are already online, you will still receive the $.20 bonus/exclusive image.

what does this mean? it clearly indicates that there's a way to make images exclusive right now, but then later in the thread we read that this feature has yet to be implemented. which is it?

thanks...
